How to Set Your Widescreen TV/DVD

Without help, most people have problem setting their first widescreen TV so that their widescreen DVD play just right, without the "vertical squeeze" which made everybody look short. We had that problem too.

The jest is that you have to inform your DVD player that you now have a widescreen TV. Nothing needs to be done on the TV side, other than turning off the "stretch" mode if your widescreen TV has one and it was in use.

To tell your DVD player of your new widescreen TV, hit "stop" on your DVD remote control, then hit "setup". In the setup, there should be a video section, where it let's you select "4:3" or "16:9", change the choice from "4:3" to "16:9", and then exit setup accordingly. Now your DVD should look just right on your widescreen TV, whether the DVD is the old full screen or the new widescreen.
